This Gorilla safari takes you to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Lowland Gorillas are found in Kahuzi Biega national park. Located in South Kivu, Kahuzi Biega is a World Heritage site and one of two homes of the Eastern Lowland Gorillas.

Spending one hours on a face to face encounter with these dramatic creatures is such a magical experience that comes once in a lifetime! Visitor encounters with these Great apes entirely involves exploring their general behavior and lifestyles (feeding, mating, nesting, body gestures and others) while they are in their natural habitat.

In this package, you will go for a nature walk in Kahuzi Biega National Park to enjoy the park’s great variety of landscapes, including tropical and bamboo forests, swamps and waterfalls (Tshibati), as well as possibilities of spotting birds, monkeys and countless other animal and plant species.

 

Day 1
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Rwanda

Airport pickup and transfer to your Hotel in Kigali. Early arrivals can take optional tour of Kigali city and the surrounding areas. Overnight and Dinner – City Blue Hotel.

Day 2
Day 2: Transfer to Bukavu- DR Congo

In the morning, you will be picked by the driver from your hotel in Kigali and drive southwards to Cyangugu border on the way to Bukavu in DR Congo. You will have a stop over in Butare, where you will visit the national museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza, and the Rwanda genocide memorial site. After lunch, continue on a scenic journey to Bukavu with wonderful views of the hills in Rwanda through the tropical forest of Nyungwe National park and a clear view of Lake Kivu. Dinner and overnight at Panorama (Luxury)/Orchid safari Lodge

Day 3
Day 3: Lowland Gorilla tracking tour in Kahuzi Biega – DR Congo

In the morning, you will head for the memorable adventure of tracking the lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National park. Tracking lowland Gorillas is very amazing, lowland Gorillas differ from the mountain gorillas, the lowland gorillas are bigger in size, usually takes 1-4 hours tracking the lowland Gorillas. The lowland Gorillas stay in bigger families as compared to mountain gorillas; you will not regret the safari effort once you meet the amazing Gorillas! Later in the afternoon drive back to your hotel.

Day 4
Day 4: Visit Tshibati waterfall and Lwiro sanctuary

After breakfast, you will go for a nature walk in the Kahuzi Biega park, you will find several trails of various lengths and difficulties for all ages. Enjoying the park’s great variety of landscapes, including tropical and bamboo forests, swamps and waterfalls Tshibati, as well as possibilities of spotting birds, monkeys and countless other animal and plant species., visit the research centre which is at 17Km from Kahuzi biega national Park (Lwiro sanctuary). In the afternoon return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 5
Day 5 : Transfer back to Kigali

In the morning after a relaxed breakfast, you will drive back to Kigali crossing via Cyangugu border. Reach Kigali late in the afternoon. End of safari – Depart.
